Do teens have addictive personalities?

I have an addictive personality but throughout high school friends of mine didn't. The reason i had one have to do with my genes. Both my grandfathers on either side were easily addicted to thing, then passing down from generation to generation i ended up with it as well. Age groups have nothing to do with it.
